Our History
Exploring with innovation since 2005. Alexide.
Our story begins with the idea of two technicians who were not inclined to compromises and had an “unusual” vision.
In fact, this story actually began even earlier, at University, where those two technicians, us, discovered that we enjoyed creating software together. Every project assigned to us ended up becoming something different. Let’s say we achieved the optimal result, but the path and approach were almost never what we had been taught.
We have Romagna roots, and Alexide could only have been born in Cesena, in its heart.
Since that distant 2005, we have changed a lot, particularly the two of us have aged quite a bit, but Alexide has changed significantly, and today we are just a small part of a team of talented professionals.
Our Values
A successful company must have valuable resources and valuable clients. We understood long ago that the best client is not the one who flatters you but the one who challenges you every day to do more because only by raising the bar can you improve. Let’s clarify that the perfect client is the one who, in addition to the stick, also remembers the existence of the carrot. 😉
We ourselves are demanding clients of Alexide and test our ideas in our Headquarters (laboratory), where we experiment and continuously test everything. If it works for us, it will work for you.
Evolution is part of our DNA, which is why we look to the future with meticulous optimism, curiosity, and an unrelenting tenacity, always ready to put ourselves on the line.
2005
Company Foundation
Our adventure began in 2005, in a 30 square meter office in Borello di Cesena.
The first years were formidably tough, but we had fun creating what would later become SolidRules.
We transformed ideas that many labeled as crazy into a product outside of any scheme.
When we started, most companies were developing software in VB6; we chose a beta language like C# and a language that was unknown to most, like Python (at the time, it was definitely not cool).
Some might say we were lucky in choosing these development languages, but the truth is that we made our decision after studying hard and understanding that they were the best foundations to build upon.
2008
The v1 of SolidRules
In 2008, after 3 years of hard work with revenue nearing 0, we reached an important milestone with the launch of SolidRules.
The first SolidRules was something of rare ugliness, but it contained our philosophy. It was incredibly powerful, but only we knew it!
2012
The first results
It took us time to create the product and even longer to understand that Pareto's 80-20 rule needed to be embraced. When we gave SolidRules at least an acceptable design, we also found those who wanted to propose it. The first partnerships came in, along with the first results and our first collaborator
2015
The first move
We had reached the maximum size of our 30 square meters in Borello, and we decided to purchase our first home. In 2015, we moved to Via Ilaria Alpi in Cesena, into a 100 square meter office in a multipurpose building where we could accommodate the entire team. Yes, we had grown to 4 people—a crowd!
In that new headquarters, our vision of the community also changed. We initially started collaborating with industry associations, then with schools, and began to understand how important it was to invest not only in ourselves.
From this contamination, the idea of creating the DIR, or Romagna IT District, was born. Together with some visionary university professors and a few unconventional entrepreneurs like us, we laid the groundwork for the first piece of something that is still moving forward today.
2021
The second move
Those 100 square meters were no longer sufficient to accommodate a constantly growing team, and a month before discovering what a pandemic was, we purchased the new headquarters (it’s clear from our history that we only have fun when the ground is uphill).
Despite the crisis, we had the idea to create a stimulating and welcoming work environment for experimentation.
The new headquarters became a laboratory for experimenting with IoT, big data analysis, and artificial intelligence (and ChatGPT didn’t even exist yet).
2023
The important things
The team has grown significantly, and with it, clients and results have also increased. To celebrate, we treated ourselves to a multipurpose room where we could have our Academy for training and, at the same time, house a foosball table and a ping pong table.
We soundproofed the spaces, optimized the acoustic, luminous, and thermal comfort, but unfortunately, it still sometimes feels like a work environment, and there are people who, despite being in Romagna, get up on the wrong side of the bed. However, this is a top priority on our checklist, and we are working to ensure that everyone has a level of enthusiasm that approaches that of those who created this company.
In 2022, we also began collaborations with schools (High Schools, ITS, Universities). In particular, we started teaching at the degree program in Computer Systems Technologies at the University of Bologna, sharing the techniques we use in our product (Big Data, Data Mining, Data Analytics, and Machine Learning).
2024
Continuous Innovation and New Horizons
We have now filled all the workstations in the new headquarters with talented young men and women from various technical disciplines (computer science, biomedical engineering, physics, statistics, electronics).
As technicians focused solely on the product and technology, we began to pay attention to marketing and design, and if you’ve read this far, it means this investment is also paying off.
We have never had such a prepared and dedicated team for product development and customer care (even if sometimes someone forgets their good manners 😉).
We strongly believe in what we are doing, and the new version of SolidRules will be the result of this long chase.
We develop outside the box
Our solutions are tested directly in the development and design laboratory. Alexide's technology suite is entirely based on one idea: thinking outside the box. We believe in the importance of maintaining a positive attitude and the magic of always being effective.
Thinking differently may not be easy, but with determination and tenacity, we can evolve over time. This way, we enrich and strengthen our know-how accumulated over almost twenty years of experience, adapting it to new perspectives.
