Internships and theses in Companies

Alexide directly supports the new professional degree program 'Technologies of Information Systems' launched at the Cesena Campus of the University of Bologna, a program that directly connects the world of research with industry. Our involvement also extends to teaching, as we run the Laboratory for Big Data, Data Mining, and Data Analytics.
Collaborations with Unibo also encompass Curricular Internships and Theses in Companies.
Below are some titles, but we are passionate researchers, and if you have a fascinating topic, we can create one tailored to your needs!

Unibo Cesena

Creation of a Digital Twin in Augmented Reality

The first internship we offer aims to introduce functionalities typical of Industry 5.0 into a corporate building automation system (Building Management System), such as the creation of a Digital Twin of a building.
In the 3D digital twin, data from the IoT will be visualized, and it will also be possible to trigger actions that can activate actuators or enable the control management of the building based on Artificial Intelligence.

The entire system will be accessible directly via the web, but it must also be fully usable offline from the internet, which (under certain conditions) may temporarily be unreachable.
The student will acquire skills in 3D, web programming, IoT, microservices, data analysis tools, and artificial intelligence, including:

  • MQTT
  • Pandas
  • PyTorch
  • TensorFlow

The student will use programming languages such as:

  • Python
  • C#
  • Javascript

Collaborative Systems in AR/XR for Industry 5.0

The second internship we offer is part of a research project on Industry 5.0, aimed at developing collaborative systems in Augmented Reality and Extended Reality within the manufacturing sector, specifically for the Production and Service departments.
The intern will integrate and enhance our current 3D model visualization environment.
One of the initial goals is to manage neutral formats from 3D mechanical CAD systems so they can be used on VR, AR, and XR devices, where the Collaborative Features can then be activated.

The student will acquire skills in managing 3D models and libraries in the field of AR and XR, including:

  • Three.js
  • WebXR
  • ARCore
  • ARKit

The student will use programming languages such as:

  • Python
  • C#
  • Javascript

The student will also have the opportunity to experiment with devices such as Smart Glasses and Headsets based on the developed applications.
